Finally gone on to new spuds at work. Normally it's the third week in June. Though if Ingrid had been any cop we'd have changed 10 days ago.

Indeed, we have been struggling with ropey spuds fir the last couple of months cos we can only get the cheapest of the cheap but this week has seen a definate improvement in the quality and size.
Taking half the time to take the eyes out and trim up.

My dad on the other knows potatoes. Really knows them. All the varieties and which were best for what etc. Something I didn't inherit.

The farm shop I patronise had to go on to new potatoes a few weeks ago as the farmer they get theirs from couldn't harvest some of his last year as it was too wet. Not local, but getting Cornish at the moment.
