I have several Genii fuchsias in the garden, and they all seem to be shrivelling and dying. The plants growing around them are all fine. I dug one up and the roots have fuzzy growths on them. The branches are dead. Would anyone know what is causing this?

No, but if no-one here can help then Castle Ashby has a large fuchsia collection; perhaps their gardener might know?

It looks as though there's a fungal infection on the roots. Root daage will prevent the plant from taking up water, causing the top growth to shrivel and die. You could try some kind of water-on fungicide, perhaps.

Thank you. Will take up both suggestions. Much appreciated.
