So I could buy lassemitas and replace the screen?

Well, theoretically yes. I've no idea how difficult it is though.

Make sure you check what a new screen costs compared with Ebay prices for the whole thing.

I would suggest keeping an eye out on eBay too. The screens can be expensive to replace.

if you know someone who can do surgery on them, you can try the one from my son's broken ds.

I've kept half an eye on ebay looking for a bargain ds, dsi or whatever, and they seem about as common as hen's teeth.

It might be worth looking elsewhere, e.g. for preowned ones from game:

Pink DS lite though

or similar,

Peter.

I sent my girls one to the Nintendo place in Portsmouth and they fixed it free of charge. Very impressive customer service. I didn't have reciept or anything.

tell you what, this topic has just saved me a few quid My youngest has a pink DS with a drunk bottom screen and we have been toying with the idea of getting her a new one for a while. After checking on Amazon tho, the screen and the odd tri-point screw driver only come to 10.50 so I think that's better than nearly 100 quid for a new one. bring on an evening of curses and speared palms

Fiona is interested in selling - no idea of price, but looking at the replacement screens I wondered if they are just if the screen gets very scratched. OH said something about a digitizer....
F's screen registers touches in the wrong place. Does that make sense to anyone?
Dekk - if you try it perhaps you should report back. Mending things rather than replacing them is very Downsizery.

much as the offer of the screwdriver is appreciated I think the postage might and the diesel will be a bit more expensive than a new screwdriver. Darn, I hate being stuck in this town!!

Oh yes its the drunken screen screen syndrome we have too seems its quite common on the older ones, several friends have replaced theirs. I think i'll tell them later

New screen and funny screwdriver on order, should be here tomorrow. If all goes well I shall post where I purchased mine from, if the instructions were any good and how easy it was to do in the next few days.

Much happiness has been bestowed on my youngest!!!
the screen was delivered this morning and it took a whole five minutes to install, that included taking it apart again after I realised I hadn't seated the screen correctly. Very simple and easy, https://www.consoleparts4u.co.uk/nintendo-ds-17-c.asp was the site I used and the screen was the princely sum of 5.49

seems you can replace everything but the main board for less than a tenner a time and after taking it apart once I think its more difficult to tag a ewe than change the parts
