Apparently it derives from 'magic cookie' which is a parcel of data that a program receives and passes on unchanged. I suppose they could have called them sweetcorn kernels instead.

Some bad news on the move front I'm getting no response on a licence issue on the server I want to move DS to. One solution is a move to somewhere slower, albeit hopefully not too bad. I'm not keen of that, but the job needs doing and any next move back to somewhere quicker, would be a lot less painful.

It's a pain to say the least, not least as the place I can transfer things to, is only licensed for 30 domains, and of course there are a few more than that to be dealt with. It's not impossible to deal with, but it's wading through quicksand at a time when I need to get things done fast.
