I was cooking a bunny the other day, and had a half-remembered fact surface in what passes for my brain: To whit, you shouldn't use rabbit as your primary source of protein, because it lacks something, or stops you from digesting something, or something...... Can anyone shed any light?

I haven't heard anything about their being something in it which would hinder digestion etc... My grandmother used to soak wild rabbit in milk for a day to "get rid of any intense gamey flavour" Are you sure you haven't ben watching too much Watership Down

Rabbit is virtually zero fat, could that be it?

All meat is a complete protien, where as they have all the essential amino acids. Is this what you were thinking of.

Apparently you need a certain amount of fat to be able to metabolise certain essential amino acids. Rabbit doesn't contain enough fat to let you do this.

Fairly sure (although I have no facts to back this up) that pigeon is harder to digest than rabbit. No wonder I'm so skinny ! Anneka
